Dieser wiederum hat einen Fremden beobachtet, der eilig durch das Fenster aus Eves Zimmer floh und dabei den Krug vom Kaminsims warf. Keiner ahnt, dass dies der Dorfrichter Adam war, der sich bei der Flucht Verletzungen zuzog und seine Perücke einbüßen musste. Frau Marthe bringt den Fall vor Gericht und Adam muss widerwillig eine Verhandlung abhalten! Er versucht, die Aufklärung des Falles zu verhindern und den Verdacht auf andere zu lenken. Kleists tragikomisches Lustspiel um Amtsmissbrauch, Erpressung und Lüge ist wie eh und je hochaktuell. Die Nacherzählung wird durch Original-Szenen ergänzt, gesprochen von renommierten Schauspielern
