The exonerated( Visual )

6 editions published between 2004 and 2009 in English and held by 497 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The undeniable power of the true stories of six exonerated survivors of death row will engage your emotion, incite your passion, and envelope you in their search for the lost pieces of dignity and the lives that were interrupted. The Exonerated began its journey over the summer of 2000, when authors Jessica Blank and Erik Jensen traveled across the United States, interviewing 40 of the (then) 89 former death row prisoners. They went as far south as Texas and Miami, as far north as Chicago and just about everywhere in between to meet the people whose stories appear in The Exonerated. The interviewees were from vastly different ethnic, religious and educational backgrounds. Their views on the world varied greatly. The only thing that they had in common was that all 40 had been sentenced to death, spent anywhere from 2 to 22 years on death row and were subsequently found innocent and freed by the state
Guerrilla : the taking of Patty Hearst( Visual )

3 editions published between 2004 and 2005 in English and held by 367 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In today's new and scarier age of terrorism, the actions of a small collection of mixed-race, largely middle-class radical leftists fighting against the Vietnam War, racism, and other social ills in the 1970's seem emblematic of the cultural chaos of the era, nothing more. The event of 1974 occurred when a group calling themselves the Symbionese Liberation Army kidnapped19-year-old newspaper heiress Patricia Hearst in Berkeley, California. The crime received nearly round-the-clock coverage, and made the SLA into counterculture superstars. There are gaps in the story but the film contains rare and long unseen newsreel footage, interviews with two SLA members, and offers a fascinating portrait of not only a kind of psychopathic idealism but also a whole era of extraordinary social turmoil

Some assembly required: This film examines the protests during the 2004 Republican National Convention focusing on the disconnect between society's desire for order and the NYPD's overzealous application of force in stamping out potential threats to the placid image of the GOP's "big tent." Mainstream media downplayed the protests to the point of near-invisibility during the convention, so this portrait of articulate protesters serves as a corrective
