Evaluation of commercial mass deacidification processes : AKZO-DEZ, WEI T'O and FMC-MG3 by Helen Diana Burgess( Book )

19 editions published between 1992 and 1994 in English and held by 55 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Documents the results of the second phase of a project that evaluated three commercial mass-deacidification processes: diethyl zinc, MG-3 or Lithco, and Wei T'o technologies. The second phase tested these processes in deacidifying new and artificially-aged modern papers. Data collected include the quantity and distribution of buffer reserve, as determined by scanning electron microscopy, atomic absorption, and titration; pH, both surface and cold extraction; degree of polymerization of cellulose; and physical measurements (dry and wet zero span tensile strength, water absorbency, colour) of five treated papers, as well as the identification of problems specific to each treatment process. The relative permanence of papers treated by the three processes was evaluated by comparing data obtained before and after ageing
