Mental retardation : definition, classification, and systems of supports by American association on mental retardatio( Book )

4 editions published between 1992 and 2002 in English and held by 10 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

AAMR takes the best of its landmark 1992 definition and incorporates the latest scientific and clinical research to produce a definition of mental retardation for the 21st century. An international committee of scholars, educators, psychologists, physicians, researchers, and service providers developed the 2002 definition. In fact, the 10th edition proposes more than just a definition of mental retardation. It lays out an entire system to diagnose and classify mental retardation, including the tools necessary to plan supports for the individual with mental retardation. This classification system integrates theory with practical needs, including case studies and activities, which make it more useful, integrated, and compatible with other classification systems. The accompanying workbook and forms include everything needed to incorporate the new definition system into existing programs
