Existing ideas on the dependence of the norms for disbursement of CO2 on cloud capacity were made more precise by experimental data. The effect of dry ice at temperatures higher than -4 degrees, high wind velocity and seeding at various levels above upper cloud boundaries is discussed. (Author)
Operation of Construction Machinery Under Winter Conditions( Book )

1 edition published in 1970 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book sets forth special features of operation of construction machinery (chiefly excavators, bulldozers and tractors) under winter conditions. It examines difficulties arising during the operation and caused by the effect of freezing temperatures on the lubricants, fuels, brake and operating fluids of the hydraulic-control systems and also on the steels and other materials. It analyzes in detail the causes which make the starting of the carburetor-type and diesel engines difficult at low temperatures. It also examines the methods of making the starting easier. In addition to this, the book gives information on the preparation of construction machinery and on the organization of work under winter conditions, the data on the economic effect obtained with proper organization of the maintenance and use of the means for making the operation of construction machinery easier. Optimal parameters of an artificial delay line( Book )

2 editions published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The possibility of realizing a wide band artificial delay line on the basis of filtration of lower frequencies type 'm' was investigated, for which necessary optimal relations have been established. Lines of this type are used in units of correction of quadrature errors in video tape-recorders. The basic factors investigated in this experiment, influence the choice of line parameters and methods are shown for the computation of optimal lines, allowing for the realization of high quality direction units for video recorders. Critical analysis of air temperature data using the electronic computer ural-4( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paper claims that an analysis of air temperature data depends a great deal on the arrangement of the observation stations, especially the so-called effective stations. The data provided by the peripheral or regional stations do not enhance the accuracy of the analysis. Interpolation discrepancies can be reduced by an optimal selection of effective stations. An optimal interpolation reveals no marked advantage over a linear interpolation, and a critical analysis of average monthly temperature data with the use of computer is said to be feasible. (Author)
Characteristic radicals of stochastic matrices( Book )

The decoding of these types of terrain on aerial photographs is discussed. (Author)
Imparting light and decomposition resistance to cellulose materials( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A two-stage treatment of cellulose was developed which imparts persistent resistance to sunlight and the action of soil microorganisms. The process involves formation of rhodanine-copper-cellulose compounds by interaction of rhodanine with a copper-cellulose complex. Data presented indicate the increased stability of the treated fabrics in comparison to untreated and copper cellulose forms. (Author)

A gyroscopic method of damping a wind velocity sensor is discussed in this article. The wind receiver is the sensor of the M-27 anemometer. The article presents a numerical example which show that the method discussed provides a transient process time on the order of 600 seconds. (Author)
AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN 1966-1970( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Truck and bus transportation is not meeting the requirements of the domestic economy. The 23rd Party Congress has decreed that freight hauling by truck transport will increase 1.7 times during the five years of the present plans (1966-1970). Vehicle production also fails to correspond to the configuration of freight haulage: in the future there will be more light trucks and heavy duty trucks but fewer medium trucks. In addition, the proportion of tractor-trailer combination is to increase. The latest truck designs are discussed and the basic characteristics are given for a number of new trucks (engine, horsepower, body style). The location of plants and a description of what is produced at each is given, as well as sights named for new plants. (Author)

Comparative assessment of the efficacy of nutrient media for cultivation of leptospira( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The liquid nutrient media of Ulengut, Terskiy, Fervoort-Wolfe, and Korthof were bound to be most effective for growth of leptospira. Addition of glycerin and vitamins of the B group had a stimulating effect on growth. Metabolic processes proceeded more intensively in leptospira of the icterohaemorrhagiae type, than in the pomona or grippotyphosa types. Addition of stimulators to Terskiy medium facilitated intensive consumption of aspargic, glutamic, arginine, serine, methionine, and cystine by the microorganisms. (Author)
Effect of ribonuclease on propagation of hoof and mouth disease. report ii: effect of ribonuclease on the infection process in experimental hoof and mouth disease( Book )

1 edition published in 1970 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Ribonuclease does not change the infectious properties of native hoof and mouth disease virus and does not prevent the absorption and penetration of this virus into cells. The preincubation of cells with ribonuclease does not change their capacity for ensuring the process of replication of viral particles. Ribonuclease evidently acts directly on the RNA of the replicating virus. The absence of inhibiting activity of desoxyribonuclease and trypsin in the concentrations used in this study, which considerably exceed the possible quantity of impurities, precludes the possibility of attributing the observed effect to the presence of these enzymes in the ribonuclease employed. Ribonuclease prevents the replication of this virus in the organism of suckling mice and safeguards the animals from death. The report II deals with the testing of ribonuclease enzyme as a specific method of prophylaxis and treatment in experimental hoof and mouth disease. Tests were conducted on newborn rabbits and guinea pigs. (Author)
Celestial ballistics by V. I Levantovskiĭ( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The book discusses the basic science concerned with the motion of artificial celestial bodies -- earth satellites, automatic interplanetary stations and manned spaceships. From this work, the reader will learn how scientists intend to reach the stars and what considerations guide them in planning flights of space vehicles and expeditions to the moon and planets. The methods of types of flight trajectories of cosmonauts, both today and tomorrow, the methods of guiding and controlling the motions of space vehicles, and the different maneuvers in circumearth, circumlunar and interplanetary space are discussed. The reader will learn not only of the successes of stellar ballistics but also of the colossal difficulties which scientists and engineers must overcome and of the problems which have not yet been solved and which will be of real concern to tomorrow's scientists. Temperature conditions of a small water flow in a segment of a culvert( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The article pertains to the design and construction of culverts and other water passages along railroad lines and highways for water streams likely to freeze up under winter conditions. Several design recommendations are made for the purpose of keeping the water flowing freely. Culverts and other water passageways should be designed with consideration of the various heat losses which occur in the channel. Flow rates and velocities of streams are other important factors to be considered in the design of culverts, bridges, and other water passages. (Author)
Effect of washing and sterilization on the antimicrobial activity of materials( Book )

A Fast Method of Cattle Brucellosis Diagnosis (Uskorennyi Metod Diagnostiki Brutselleza Krupnogo Rogatogo Skota)( Book )

1 edition published in 1970 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

As a supplement to RA (Agglutination reaction) and RSK (complement-fixation reaction), Soviet researchers have proposed a number of new and valuable methods of recognizing latent and active forms of brucellosis. The search for faster and simpler test methods, suitable for use on collective farms, state farms and in veterinary medicine installations has been of importance. A method of fast RA with a chromatic antigen for KR on filter paper was tested. This method, in essence is a modification of the Kheddl'son reaction, is very simple to carry out and consists of mixing equal drops of test serum and chromatic antigen on glass and immediately transferring one drop of the mixture to filter paper. After absorption, which has a maximum duration of 1-1.5 min., the reaction is analyzed. If the result is positive, the colorless part of the liquid spreads to the periphery of the filter paper and in its center is formed a dark blue spot. In the case of a dubious reaction the spot in the center is less intensively colored and bluish rays spread out from it. In negative cases a light blue drop spreads uniformly over the entire surface of the paper and the central part is less intensively colored
