An original performance from Mexico of Bodas de sangra (Blood wedding) by Garcia Lorca, performed by the Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino E Indigena. "One of the artistic and theatrical objectives of the Laboratorio de Teatro Campesino e Indigena (L.T.C.I.) is the recovery of the dramatic literary, musical, folkloric and historical values of the farmers and peasants of Mexico. . . .The poetry and prose of Federico Garcia Lorca seems to have been written for the peasants of these vast Mexican and Latin American regions." [From New York Shakespeare Festival program.] The work was later produced by Joseph Papp and the New York Shakespeare Festival/Festival Latino in New York where it was presented in Sullivan County, N.Y. as part of the Festival's summer 1986 season.
