Correspondence details the domestic activities of the Garrison family, including births of two children, the health of Mrs. Garrison, travels undertaken by various members of the family, visits by and to friends and relatives, and letters to Williams Lloyd Garrison, Jr., concerning his father's illness and death in May 1879.

Included is a description of the siege of Fort Meigs on the Maumee River in Ohio during the War of 1812. Thomas Benson was wounded during this siege.
