James Clark Bush of Waterbury, Connecticut, married the eldest daughter of Edward M. Stanton, Eleanor Stanton. Bush was a Major in the United States Army. This collection consists of their correspondence and papers, those of James' sister Lucy Peck Bush, and the papers of James and Eleanor's daughter Eleanor Bush and her husband Weston P. Chamberlain. The bulk of the correspondence relates to genealogical research, although there are letters to Eleanor from her husband James Bush, and some family correspondence, particularly between Lucy Peck Bush and Eleanor Bush Chamberlain. Weston P. Chamberlain's correspondence concerns land he owned in Florida and apparently wanted to sell. Weston is also represented by two diaries, the one from 1896 stating clearly on the fly leaf that it was to be destroyed upon his death.
