José Antonio Hernández-Diez by José Antonio Hernández-Diez( Book )

1 edition published in 2002 in English and held by 116 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

One of the most important Latin American artists of the last decade, Jose Antonio Hernandez-Diez creates candid, poetic, and at times disturbing and irreverent multi-media installations inspired by the vernacular culture and traditions of his home country. Commenting upon the paradoxical effects of globalization, Hernandez-Diez has turned such tricks as writing the names of great Western thinkers using the logos of four expensive, trendy, and colourful sneakers. This publication accompanies the Venezuelan artist's first major exhibition in the United States, and is complemented by scholarly essays from New Museum curator Dan Cameron, adjunct curator Gerardo Mosquera, and Venezuelan critics Jesus Fuenmayor and Monica Amor
AnsichtsSachen = Viewingmatters by Hans Haacke( Book )

2 editions published in 1999 in German and held by 30 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Throughout his career, Hans Haacke has explored the social, political and economic conditions of making, funding, exhibiting and collecting art. When Haacke curated his own legendary Viewing Matters exhibit at the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen in Rotterdam, he brought into focus the often concealed relationship between commerce and high art in a complex installation that included hundreds of pieces of art, merchandising from the museum store and portraits of the previous directors of the museum. In this publication, the artist explores both the dialects of the art exhibition and the socio-economic role of the museum in contemporary society. -- From publisher's description

Movement( Book )

1 edition published in 1999 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"One of our most conceptual issues - not only because it was based on the abstract notion of motion but also because the images were printed on vellum, a near-transparent material that enhanced the stop-motion effects of the photographs. We used another technology - lenticular photography - to create the 3D front- and back-cover images of Kate Moss swinging to and fro. In fact, those images were created by an all-English team: Nick Knight took the picture, Peter Saville art directed, and Alexander McQueen and Katy England did the styling, which made perfect sense when we launched the issue at Harvey Nichols in London. Other contributors included designers Martin Margiela and Hussein Chalayan, artists Ross Bleckner and Tony Oursler, illustrator François Berthoud, and photographers Steven Meisel and Steven Klein"--Publisher's description
