1 edition published in 1985 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

All subjects completed the resting tests (however, it is predicted that these conditions can be tolerated without auxiliary cooling). Neither system enabled the subjects to complete the exercise tests (mean exposure times were 98 and 169 minutes for the desert and tropic tests, respectively). An excessive amount of maintenance was required to keep the commercial systems operational. This study showed that: (1) neither commercial system enabled soldiers to exercise for 180 minutes in a hot environment, and (2) both systems had Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Durability (RAM-D) human factor, and logistics shortcomings which make them unsuitable for Army field use
