The actual muscles of the heart : stories by Peter Grimes( )

1 edition published in 2003 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

ABSTRACT: In these stories I have attempted to bring the fantastical world of the mind out of the brain and set it in the real world of buses, pogo sticks, and candy stores. Since imagination does not have the presence it deserves in everyday life, I have tried to give it such a presence, a physical presence in my stories. Thus, many of the fictional circumstances are fantastical, the characters whimsical, and the tone one of awe. Beyond this mission of mixing fantasy with reality, I have essayed to get at the truth of situations between people. The truth can never be represented as a declarative statement, but it can be pictured and felt. I hope the reader will feel it in these stories
