This collection consists mostly of letters from the children to their parents and to each other. The letters concern family matters, particularly finances, and contain information about marriages, births, deaths, and occupations. Several letters concern the division of Simon's estate after his death. Also included ae miscellaneous letters from acquaintances of the family, land deeds, and a few other miscellaneous legal papers.

Consists chiefly of letters acknowledging the gift of Horace E. Scudder's memoir Henry Oscar Houghton: a biographical outline (1897). The letters, which often include reminiscences of Houghton, were written to Henry Oscar Houghton Jr. and his sisters; George H. Mifflin; Houghton, Mifflin and Company; and Horace E. Scudder. Also includes some miscellaneous correspondence together with records, minutes, and programs, 1878-1883, of the Game Club, a social club in Cambridge, Mass, and a photograph of the men of the Riverside Press composing room, as well as other photographs.

Summary: Collection consists of the personal papers of Phyllis Harroun, and the Harroun family, 1808-1984. Included are correspondence, genealogical material, and miscellaneous personal papers. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence between: various Harroun family members and friends (1861-1952), Phyllis Harroun and the Museum of New Mexico (1983-198), and various Houghton family members (1808-1840). One subject of note in Nellie Harroun's correspondence with William and Mary Harroun is the 1906 San Francisco, California earthquake and fire. Genealogical materials contain family histories of the Harroun family and Houghton family, a bible with genealogical notations, and a Daughters of the American Revolution application for membership complete with a narrative version of Mary Houghton Harroun's family tree. Miscellaneous personal papers include Phyllis Harroun's medical and membership certificates from various institutions. Also included is a copy of William S. Harroun's will and a miscellaneous publication.

A small group of Houghton family correspondence. Included are: two letters that Thomas Houghton wrote home from Andover, Mass. (1789, Apr. 21 and 1791, July 24); a letter to Houghton from his daughter Elizabeth (1790, Apr. 4, London); a document appointing Thomas Houghton, Jr. administrator of his father's estate (1797, July 12); citizenship certificate issued to John Harding, a papermaker, native of Great Marlow (Buckinghamshire) who had arrived to Andover from England in 1802 (1808, Apr. 28); three letters (1816-1829) addressed to Mary Agnes Houghton, including a letter of appreciation from the Salem East India Marine Society for her donation of "a medal of hte Duke of York;" and a letter addressed to Abraham Marland regarding the estate of Thomas Houghton, Jr.
