Hutchinson include receipts, bills, shipping invoices, letters from art and antique dealers, travel tickets, and items which document his travels and purchases of household and art objects in Europe and New York. Papers of Holmes Hutchinson include a certificate concerning specifications for maps of New York canals, a schedule of contracts for the enlargement and improvement of the Erie Canal (1836?), a document of the Ontario Steamboat Company, a broadside issued by Hutchinson as president of the Osewgo and Syracuse Railroad Company (1853), and a fragmentary check stub book of the railroad company. Papers of Edwin Hutchinson include a United States passport containing his physical description (1885), and his Yale University classbook which contains photographs and letters of school associates including George L. Catlin.
