"Visitors in the early years came to enjoy traditional English fare, including Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding and Steak and Kidney Pie. Is the space program a waste of money? In this program James May gives viewers an engaging recap of the human fascination with space flight and argues that missions meant to increase scientific understanding of the universe also expand our view of life on Earth. May traces the evolution of space flight from Robert Goddard's rocket experiments to the U.S./Soviet race to the Moon, and beyond to radio telescopes and orbiting satellites. Touring Cape Canaveral with a former astronaut, he says that while Saturn V grew out of militaristic ideas it ultimately provided a humbling image of Planet Earth as a small blue marble in a vast cosmos
