An independent feature-length audio drama. A song, a pressed flower, and the sound of two girls' voices recovered from a burned wooden beam using a laser to read its charred surface like the grooves of an old record. These are the clues that archaeologist Digger Morgan discovers while working on a routine Maryland plantation dig. Who were the girls? When was the fire? The answers all lead to 1920s jazz pioneer Kit Jeffers, whose voice mysteriously appears on Digger's computer and whose existence remains haunted by a singularly tragic event
Permafrost, MN by Brian Price( )

4 editions published between 1998 and 2016 in English and held by 34 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Permafrost is an unincorporated (and entirely concocted) town on the logging road, off the gravel road, off the county road from Big Falls, in Koochiching County, Minnesota. It went into the unusually hard winter of 1887-88 and never came out. Oh, it isn't frozen in time, it's just frozen. There is what is called a "microclimate" around Permafrost. About two square miles around the town and a lake are below freezing all year round. It doesn't get bitter cold even in winter, or warm even in summer, just freezing, all the time. It's no wonder Permafrost is the ice-fishingest place around. Permafrost, MN is an audio serial in thirteen three-minute episodes about the people who live and work in the town. Together they tell about one important event in the history of the town, and each episode tells a part of this tale with a short story of its own. You'll meet Finch Shelmerdine and her parents who run the Frozen Filet Cafe. You'll hear from Bux Hootkins, who lives in Permafrost but h

The year is 2096, and the eighty-three-year-old Turner Ashbey has seen a lot in the turbulent twenty-first century: The rising oceans, the Eastern Migration, the Stay Put, the Digital Undoing, the Tax Indentures, and of course, the collapse and dissolution of the United States Federal Government into, finally, one hundred and thirteen "ephemeral nations," as Ashbey liked to call them.
