Die Wahl des Rentenalters by Peter Schmidt( )

2 editions published in 2018 in German and held by 85 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Community archaeology and heritage in Africa : decolonizing practice by Peter R Schmidt( )

3 editions published in 2016 in English and held by 68 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This volume provides new insights into the distinctive contributions that community archaeology and heritage make to the decolonization of archaeological practice. Using innovative approaches, the contributors explore important initiatives which have protected and revitalized local heritage, initiatives that involved archaeologists as co-producers rather than leaders. These case studies underline the need completely reshape archaeological practice, engaging local and indigenous communities in regular dialogue and recognizing their distinctive needs, in order to break away from the top-down power relationships that have previously characterized archaeology in Africa. Community Archaeology and Heritage in Africa reflects a determined effort to change how archaeology is taught to future generations. Through community-based participatory approaches, archaeologists and heritage professionals can benefit from shared resources and local knowledge; and by sharing decision-making with members of local communities, archaeological inquiry can enhance their way of life, ameliorate their human rights concerns, and meet their daily needs to build better futures

Public opinion and security policy in the Federal Republic of Germany : elite and mass opinion in a comparative perspective by Rand Corporation( Book )

3 editions published in 1984 in English and held by 58 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

By analyzing public opinion polls, as well as polls of members of the "security elite" and the "general elite," this paper examines the West German perception of the Communist threat, West German attitudes toward deterrence/defense and detente, and the West German view of the Western Alliance. It reviews opinion trends in the 1970s and compares important results with opinions in principal allied countries. Among his conclusions, the author finds that the most critical development in West German opinion is an increasing belief that the Soviet Union is seeking reconciliation with the West and a decreasing belief that the United States is acting more responsibly than the Soviet Union

Measurement invariance by Alain De Beuckelaer( Book )

1 edition published in 2015 in Undetermined and held by 28 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Multi-item surveys are frequently used to study scores on latent factors, like human values, attitudes and behavior. Such studies often include a comparison, between specific groups of individuals, either at one or multiple points in time. If such latent factor means are to be meaningfully compared, the measurement structures including the latent factor and their survey items should be stable across groups and/or over time, that is 'invariant'. Recent developments in statistics have provided new analytical tools for assessing measurement invariance (MI). The aim of this special issue is to provide a forum for a discussion of MI, covering some crucial 'themes': (1) ways to assess and deal with measurement non-invariance; (2) Bayesian and IRT methods employing the concept of approximate measurement invariance; and (3) new or adjusted approaches for testing MI to fit increasingly complex statistical models and specific characteristics of survey data. The special issue started with a kick-off meeting where all potential contributors shared ideas on potential papers. This expert workshop was organized at Utrecht University in The Netherlands and was funded by the Netherlands Organization for Scientific Research (NWO-VENI-451-11-008). After the kick-off meeting the authors submitted their papers, all of which were reviewed by experts in the field. The papers in the eBook are listed in alphabetical order, but in the editorial the papers are introduced thematically. Although it is impossible to cover all areas of relevant research in the field of MI, papers in this eBook provide insight on important aspects of measurement invariance. We hope that the discussions included in this special issue will stimulate further research on MI and facilitate further discussions to support the understanding of the role of MI in multi-item surveys

Predicting Recidivism in North Carolina, 1978 and 1980 by Peter Schmidt( )

This data collection examines the relationship between individual characteristics and recidivism for two cohorts of inmates released from North Carolina prisons in 1978 and 1980. The survey contains questions on the background of the offenders, including their involvement in drugs or alcohol, level of schooling, nature of the crime resulting in the sample conviction, number of prior incarcerations and recidivism following release from the sample incarceration. The data collection also contains information on the length of time until recidivism occurs
