Carry on films are famous around the world for their saucy one-liners and oh-so-British attitutde to sex. They turned a generation of actors into national institutions and made stars of Sid James and Barbara Windsor. Both homage and exposé, this is the inside story of the turbulent love affair between 'dirty old man' Sid and 'eternally bubbly blonde' Barbara. Behind the scenes, in leaky caravans and muddy film locations, these two british icons kept up a passionnate and stormy affair, to the varying dismay and amusement of their Carry on collegues.

Contains the first two parts of a five part series discussing the maritime history of the Great Lakes. Part 1 focuses on the construction of the Illinois and Michigan Canal (1836) and its economic impact on the Chicago area. Part 2 deals with the public health problems caused by sewage disposal and industrial pollution which were solved by changing Chicago waterways. By reversing the Chicago River and constructing the Chicago Sanitary and Ship Canal, urban planners were able to lift Chicago out of the mud and design a system of lakefront parks.
