Reel 1, Side 1. After some introductory remarks by John Clauser, Joseph Kasinskas of Relache explains several pieces based on "place": 1. Steven Reich's Pendulum music, 2. Kasinskas's Still of moving lines of familes of hyperbolas and 3. Karen Campbell's Lines of silence, which was performed (sine wave). The first part of Dr. Clarence Glacken's lecture explained how geography and the environment influnences human's senses, perception and ideas over time. [ends abruptly] Reel 1, Side 2. Remainder of Glacken's lecture continues [on cue], then Relache performs Kasinskas's Echoes in palindromes. Reel 2. A roundtable discussion of Glacken's lecture and the Places theme was monerated by John Clauser, along with colleagues Joseph Kasinskas, John Immerwahr, Gerald Walker and Arthur Sabatini, with questions from the audience. The group, led by Dr. Clarence Glacken, discusses the concepts of places -- their purposes and importance in human society, and how many aspects of society influences the creation of places, such as culture, art and time. Questions were taken from the audience, which livens up the conversation more. Ambient noise was detected at 18:30 (mentioned by Kasinskas; thought to be rain) ; 2 sec. of switching mono. to stereo (33:15-33:17) ; background noise becomes chaotic at the end of Side 1. Side 2. The discussion continues, then climaxes abruptly with John Clauser's closing remarks, concluding the discussion at 4:05. The rest of Side 2 is blank
