Prototype, mesoscale simulator for the study of oil weathering under severe conditions by Emilien Pelletier( Book )

4 editions published in 1987 in English and held by 72 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

As long-term, open-sea tests on oil weathering could be difficult and experiments in ice in the field even impossible to manage, chose to develop low-cost simulation tank with which to study long-term fate & behaviour of crude oil under severe weather conditions & also in presence of ice cover. Prototype was protected outdoor tank with surface of sea-water exposed to natural weather conditions but water column protected from extreme temperature variations. Design included conical bottom, sediment trap, deck & small instrument room. Report gives full description of prototype, mesoscale simulator & describes results of 3 experiments using chemically dispersed (Corexit 9527) crude oil
Gain measurement of a cavity-backed spiral antenna from 4 to 18GHz using the three-antenna method by Claude J Brochu( Book )

4 editions published in 1998 in English and held by 8 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Presents results of the measurement of the maximum gain of a cavity-backed spiral antenna using the three antenna method over the 4-18 gigahertz range. The method was extended to obtain the circularly polarized co- and cross-polarization gain of the antenna under test. This method required the use of two other linearly polarized (LP) antennas (quad-ridged horns). Two sets of gain measurements were performed using the LP antennas with their polarization oriented horizontally then vertically. The report also describes the three-antenna method algorithm, the MATLAB program written for this application, and the experimental steps and procedures required to implement the method. Program listings are appended
Data acquisition software for DREO's near-field antenna measurement facility by Defence Research Establishment Ottawa( Book )

5 editions published between 1994 and 1995 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

DREO has built an antenna anechoic facility for microwave and millimetre-wave measurement that includes a spherical near-field antenna measurement system that allows far-field measurement of small antennas and near-field measurement of larger antennas (up to one meter) within the chamber. This report describes the facility, including the equipment, instrumentation, and the DREO Antenna Measurement Acquisition (DAMAS) software that was developed. DAMAS was developed to control the measurement and acquisition process in real time, and to present the data to the operator, thus streamlining the process so that an antenna could be accurately characterized in the minimum amount of time
Optical alignment of the spherical antenna measurement system by Defence Research Establishment Ottawa( Book )

3 editions published in 1997 in English and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Describes a custom designed system and novel techniques developed to perform a precision alignment of a microwave antenna measurement range using optical instrumentation. The system is an indoor spherical test range located in an anechoic chamber. The alignment hardware consists of several levels, an electronic theodolite with built-in autocollimation capability, and a unique target mirror assembly with the target viewable from both sides. A hand-held programmable calculator is used to calculate angular positions and distances. The instrumentation allows convenient measurement and monitoring of both the range alignment and the orthogonality and intersection of the multi-positioner spherical system axes. Numerous techniques and procedures developed for optical alignment are detailed, with step-by-step instructions to guide the user toward a precise optical alignment. The appendix includes a listing of a program for processing the theodolite readings and description of a technique to measure the phase centre of an antenna
A system for the treatment of airborne laser profilometer data of ice by R. T Lowry( Book )

3 editions published in 1975 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A system for the correction and analysis of laser profiles of sea ice is presented. The correction technique is to use an interactive graphic computer terminal using a human operator to do the pattern recognition. Details of the methods used to analyze the corrected ice profiles are also given. (Author)
A frequency hopping synthesizer controller for EHF SATCOM by Claude J Brochu( Book )

2 editions published in 1989 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

File Input-Output Subsystem for Xerox-APL( Book )

1 edition published in 1975 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This note describes the implementation of a file I/O subsystem using the special primitives provided by Xerox APL. A dyadic intrinsic function defines a set of 27 operators which combined together form a group of APL functions used for general file I/O. These functions can deal with non-APL formatted data files generated by other processors such as FORTRAN. (Author)
