Bilevel programming problems : theory, algorithms and applications to energy networks by Stephan Dempe( )

14 editions published between 2015 and 2016 in English and German and held by 269 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This work describes recent theoretical findings relevant to bilevel programming in general, and in mixed-integer bilevel programming in particular. It describes recent applications in energy problems, such as the stochastic bilevel optimisation approaches used in the natural gas industry. New algorithms for solving linear and mixed-integer bilevel programming problems are presented and explained

Natural gas imbalance system optimization by Gerardo Alfredo Pérez Valdés( )

1 edition published in 2009 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Following recent changes in the legislations regarding the natural gas supply chain, American and European rms found themselves facing numerous new problems. Particularly, the way in which a pipeline operator interacts with the natural gas shippers was aected. The new setting makes it more complicated for the pipeline operator to correct imbalances in the transportation system. In this work, we model the part of the supply chain that concerns the pipeline-shipper interactions, focusing on the cash-out penalization that is charged by the former when the latter creates imbalances. A series of mathematical optimization models, both deterministic and stochastic, are created to increasingly rene the abstraction of the system. Additionally, statistical support is provided to support the validity and usage of the data in the models. Several problem instances were computationally tested for each of the concepts introduced, and the evidence found is then used to dene a decision making framework that contributes to the shipping company day to day decision process
