The logbook of the ship Hibernia details a voyage from Clarks Point, Mass., to Saint Pauls Island, New Holland [i.e. Australia], New Zealand, Hawaii, Wateeo [i.e. Atiu, Cook Islands], St. Catharine [i.e. Santa Catarina, Brazil], and home to New Bedford, Mass. (June 1844 to May 1846). Home port was New Bedford, Mass.; master was Nathan P. Simmons; log keeper was Henry Eldredge. It is a partial daily log that describes wind, weather, location, whaling activities, shipboard occupations, sightings of ships, provisions, sightings of animals, deaths at sea, shipboard injuries, the Hibernia getting struck by lightning, ship's accounts, and crew. Includes poetry, drawings of ships, and whale stamps
