Des complexes optiquement purs ont été synthétisés à partir du [Rh(Cod)(THF)2]BF4 ou [Ru(p-cymène)Cl2]2 et de différents ligands bisoxazolines et pyridine-oxazoline. Des catalyseurs homogènes supportés et mixtes correspondants ont été préparés par greffage sur SiO2 ou Pd-SiO2, après adaptation des complexes organométalliques. D'après les analyses RMN des différents catalyseurs, la structure du complexe n'est pas modifiée lors du greffage. Les différents catalyseurs ont été testés en hydrogénation et transfert d'hydrure. En transfert d'hydrure, les meilleurs résultats ont été obtenus avec le catalyseur homogène [Ru-BoxOH] (conv. 50 % - ee 89 %) et en catalyse hétérogène avec le catalyseur mixte [Ru-BoxTMS]/Pd-SiO2 (conv. 43 % - ee 16 %). Nous avons également mis en évidence un rôle, non expliqué à ce jour, des particules de palladium pour le catalyseur mixte [Ru BoxTMS]/Pd-SiO2. D'autre part, le traitement du catalyseur homogène supporté [Ru BoxTMS]/SiO2 par HMDS améliore nettement l'activité (28 % contre 15 %) et l'énantiosélectivité (13 % contre 7 %), montrant le rôle des SiOH de surface dans la réaction catalytique

L'élaboration de catalyseurs pour l'hydrogénation asymétrique est un des axes majeurs de recherche de cette décennie. L'immobilisation de complexes optiquement actifs, par adsorption sur des particules métalliques supportées, a été envisagée. Des ligands bifonctionnels constitués d'une structure polyaromatique et d'un squelette chiral ont été synthétisés. L'étape clé de la synthèse est le couplage de Heck entre ces deux entités. L'arylation catalytique de dérivés de l'acroléine a permis de mettre en avant l'importance des conditions réactionnelles (présence ou non de sels d'ammonium) et de la nature des espèces catalytiques actives sur l'activité et la sélectivité de la réaction. Une méthode générale de synthèse en six étapes permet d'obtenir trois ligands avec des rendements globaux de 15 à 20%. Les complexes au ruthénium correspondants ont été préparés et testés en hydrogénation. Ils permettent d'hydrogéner l'acide tiglique et l'acétoacétate de méthyle quantitativement avec des excès énantiomériques modestes (10-25%). La mise en commun de ces complexes avec du palladium supporté sur charbon n'améliore pas l'énantiosélectivité et aucun phénomène de synergie n'est observé. D'autres métaux et d'autres ligands sont actuellement envisagés

This study is a part of a large project which aim is to convert a pulp mill into a fully integrated biorefinery by adding an autohydrolysis step to remove and valorize hemicelluloses prior to cooking. This thesis's goal is to study the impact of adding an autohydrolysis step on wood components and on the subsequent delignification and bleaching processes applied to this wood to produce pure cellulose. Wood components were analyzed before and after autohydrolysis. In particular it was shown that autohydrolysis increases the amount of free phenolic groups, and lowers the involvement of lignin in lignin carbohydrates complexes. A new NMR method using Dynamic Nuclear Polarization was performed directly on milled wood to look at wood components structure without extraction's steps to avoid chemical modifications.The second part describes the test of pulp processes (alkaline cooking, oxygen delignification and bleaching) on autohydrolysed wood chips. It showed that the addition of this autohydrolysis step improves delignification during cooking to such an extent that soda cooking alone is possible and efficient. Oxygen delignification was also improved. Two bleaching sequences with or without chlorinated compounds (ECF and TCF) were applied and compared, and it was concluded that sustainable bleaching without any chlorinated reagents is feasible. Finally, evaluation of bleached pulp properties demonstrated that viscose application can be targeted. Indeed, pulp had high purity cellulose content, adequate degree and high brightness and brightness stability

With current paper pulp processes, hemicelluloses are decomposed during the extraction of cellulose fibres. By including a previous step of hemicellulose extraction, these compounds could be reused as additives in the paper pulp, instead of cationic starch. In this work, two model galactomannan and xylan hemicelluloses were cationized in aqueous solution under basic conditions by etherification with a cationic epoxide. Degrees of substitution from 0.1 to 1.3 were obtained. Species concentration and epoxide amount appeared as preponderant parameters of the reaction. With an experimental design, the interaction between sodium hydroxide and epoxide amounts was modelized, and reactional conditions were optimized depending on the desired DS with a reaction efficiency of 50%. Then, cationisation was applied to two hemicelluloses extracted in FCBA. The reaction was also carried out in absence of solvent with a reaction efficiency of 70-90%, by minimising reagents consumption and effluents. Cationic derivatives with DS 0.3 gave the best performance to increase the paper resistance when they were added in paper pulp, galactomannan being more efficient than xylan. Chain reticulation allowed increasing mechanical properties of paper of 15% for the extracted xylan

The selective hydrogenolysis of glycerol to C3 compounds (propanediol, propanol, propane) was studied in aqueous phase on bifunctionnal catalysts composed of ruthenium, alone or modified by Sn additions, or of platinum supported on alumina, alumina-silica or titania. Tin was added by various methods: co-impregnation, successive impregnation and catalytic reduction.The glycerol hydrogenolysis was performed in batch reactor, at 210°C, 60 bar of total pressure (under N2 or H2), 4.5 wt% glycerol aqueous solution. These operating conditions involve structural and textural modifications of the catalysts. However, the TiO2 support is identified as leading to the best stability of the metallic phase in the reaction conditions. A higher acidity (Lewis and Brønsted sites) is obtained on catalysts supported on alumina-silica. During the transformation of glycerol, the acid sites are implied in the selectively intended dehydration reactions, but can promote the undesirable C-C bond cleavages by a mechanism of acid cracking. The selectivity to alkanes remains relatively low for all the tested catalysts. Ru based catalysts show a high activity with an important selectivity to CH4. Adding of tin allows to slightly decrease the selectivity to this degradation product. Among all the Pt-based catalysts, those supported on TiO2 show the best conversions of glycerol and the best selectivity to C3 valuable products

Oxidation reactions are widely practiced in the Chemical Industry and products obtained through this method represent a huge market. The transformation of alkenes through oxidation processes leads to the production of a large panel of compounds that are used as such or as intermediates in the preparation of organic chemicals, perfumes, cosmetics or pharmaceutical products. The aim of this project is to develop an economically and environmentally viable integrated process for the industrial production of mono and di-carboxylic acids of high purity from the oxidative cleavage of vegetable oils. The synthetic process, dealing with the cleavage of unsaturated fatty acids, involves two distinct successive steps. The formation of the corresponding diols, a well mastered transformation at pilot scale recently patented by OLEON, then the production of mono and dicarboxylic acids in oxidative conditions, which is the key challenging step The originality and the strength of the proposed process are to perform this second transformation with oxygen as oxidant and in the presence of a supported catalyst. Nevertheless, a full understanding of the mechanism is required in order to reach high yields and selectivity in one hand and to facilitate the scale-up stage in an other hand. The analysis and new synthesis methodology of this intermediates was considered. The final objective of this project is to set up an integrated process from the initial chosen feedstock down to the valuable chemicals
