L'ETUDE PORTE SUR LE COMPORTEMENT DES PAYSANS RWANDAIS. APRES UNE REVUE DE LA LITTERATURE ET UNE PRESENTATION DU MODELE DE BASE DE MENAGE AGRICOLE, UN NOUVEAU CADRE ANALYTIQUE EST ETABLI QUI EXPLIQUE LA STATIQUE COMPARATIVE D'UN MODELE GENERIQUE DE COMPORTEMENTS. CE MODELE PERMET D'ETUDIER DES GROUPES DE COMPORTEMENTS ENDOGENES TRES GENERAUX. NOUS Y GENERALISONS LES EFFETS DE REVENU ET DE SUBSTITUTION USUELS, ET NOUS REINTERPRETONS L'HYPOTHESE DE SEPARABILITE DE LA PRODUCTION PAR RAPPORT A LA CONSOMMATION. LES RAPPORTS ENTRE LES NOTIONS DE RECURSIVITE, DE SEPARABILITE ET D'EXOGENEITE DANS CES MODELES SONT EGALEMENT CLARIFIES. PLUSIEURS MODELES DE CONSOMMATION, D'OFFRE ET DE DEMANDE DE TRAVAIL ET DE PRODUCTION AGRICOLE SONT ESTIMES AFIN D'IDENTIFIER LES DETERMINANTS ET LES CONTRAINTES DE CES COMPORTEMENTS. LES PARAMETRES DES PREFERENCES ET DES TECHNOLOGIES DES MENAGES SONT EGALEMENT ESTIMES. UN TEST DE LA SEPARABILITE DE LA PRODUCTION PAR RAPPORT A LA CONSOMMATION CONDUIT A REJETER CETTE HYPOTHESE ENFIN, LES DIFFICULTES D'ESTIMATION D'UN MODELE GLOBAL ET LES RESULTATS OBTENUS ISOLEMENT POUR CHACUN DES COMPORTEMENTS ETUDIES PERMETTENT DE PROPOSER DES DIRECTIONS POUR LA POURSUITE DE LA RECHERCHE EN CE DOMAINE. DIVERSES PROCEDURES STATISTIQUES NOUVELLES ADAPTEES AU TRAITEMENT DES ENQUETES AUPRES DES MENAGES SONT PROPOSEES EN ANNEXE
Education, fécondité et croissance économique en Tunisie by Olfa Frini( Book )

1 edition published in 2010 in French and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Human is the final benefit and the essential input of economic growth and development. Human capital as an economic growth driving force is strongly influenced by demographic variables. Family institution is a preliminary for human capital accumulation considering its fertility and education investment in its member's decision. Hence, human capital analysis leads necessary to endogenous population growth. Then, our interest is focused to human quantity and quality interaction. Our economic growth investigation is so conducted by analysing fertility as economic growth variable. Our essay is to put out fertility influences notably by its interaction with education in explaining economic performances. Referring to macro and micro economic family analysis, we verify education/fertility relationship and its contribution in the growth process in Tunisian case. A long and short dynamic quantitative analysis of fertility, education and growth equilibrium relationship over the period 1963-2007 is undertaken using times series technique. Although a quantitative analysis of actual, desired, their gap, natural and regulation fertility is applied using micro econometric models such as dichotomous model, count data model and duration model. It attests that Tunisian household behaviour is shaped by quantity-quality children trade-off and also highlights economic and sociocultural fertility determinants. These analyses give out policies matching family fertility behaviour in the development process
Three Essays on the Economies of International Migration by Elie Murard( Book )

1 edition published in 2015 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This PhD dissertation presents three empirical studies on the economics of international migration. Chapter 1 examines how the migration of a household member to the United States affects the welfare of the other members left behind in rural areas of Mexico. Using a panel household survey, I show that non-migrants are better-off in terms of consumption and leisure time because (i) remittances sent by migrant exceed his/her initial contribution to the househok income and because (ii) the out- migration of a farmer raises the productivity of agricultural labor for those staying behind in the farm. Chapter 2 addresses the methodological issues empirical economists confront when they seek to identify the causal impact of migration on members left behind at origin. I propose a new method that takes into account the intra- household selection of migrants, i.e. the decision of which family members migrate and which stay behind, a problem that has remained largely ignored in the literature. Chapter 3 examines the effect of immigrant inflows in Europe on the evolution of natives' attitudes towards redistribution and immigration policy over the last decade. I find that attitudes are not only shaped by non-economic preferences, e.g. racial prejudice or differential altruism, but that they are also importantly determined by concerns on how immigration may affect the labor market, i.e. wages, and the Welfare State's finances, i.e. net social benefits

Challenges of China's sustainability : integrating energy, environment and health policies by Huijie Yan( Book )

2 editions published in 2013 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published in 2014 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Recent social movements that swept some Arab countries including Algeria showed the fragility of the situation on the labor market in these countries in particular for young people. The first chapter deals with the analysis of the situation of the labor market in Algeria over a long period. Over the past decade the employment situation has deteriorated in terms of job security in particular for young people. The situation remains difficult, especially as the current demographic situation considering pressures on the labor market in the future. In the second chapter, we analyze the strategies for job search including through informal methods. Our results show strong gender specificities in search strategies. Overall, social networks appear to be an effective method to find a job in Algeria but not for skilled jobs. The third chapter aims to study the architecture of employment systems in Algeria. It appears that the model that best explains the behavior of men and women is a sequential two-level model: participation vs. non participation and then choosing a segment on the labor market. In the fourth chapter, we analyze the determinants of the choice of sector and wages for men and women in different sectors in Algeria. Our results show that women are paid less compared to men in the various segments. The public sector is the one that best protects women from wage discrimination

The effects of health aid on health outcomes : public versus private channels by Muhammad Asim Afridi( )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
