We take the ground beneath our feet for granted. It conveys exactly the grip we need on the world and thus helps us not to lose our balance in an accelerating world. It is a fundamental part of our own viewpoint, representing steadiness and security. Also ground provides a field for various perceptions: feeling with the feet and our whole body for irritation and delusions. The project "ambigous ground" consists of developing two different grounds. The first one is textile and made in a conventional pattern, in cooperation with the yarn company Xentrys and the weaving company Carpet Concept. The second ground depicts visions for the future, material experiments, ideas of recycling, ideas for living on the ground, and over all focuses on the perception of the ground. As a result there are fascinating ideas for grounds, which can be understood differently: some are almost ready for use, some symbolize only an idea, some make us think. All have in common that they appeal to our imagination and serve as an inspiration for dealing with the meaning of ground for the human being

Cycle - clean bags( )

1 edition published in 2014 in German and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

With support from German Federal Cultural Foundation, the Textile-Design Department of the Burg Giebichenstein Arts University began the Clean Bags project in the summer semester of 2014. The two institutions collaborative goal was to develop an environmentally sustainable and aesthetically considered bag for event organisers in the culture sector. Research, design and production took place in the summer semester of 2014 in accordance with the concept of sustainability, including the many hidden facets involved such as organic production, social responsibility, fair trade, minimising resources and pollutants and regional implications. The task for the students was to produce a bag for conference documents, made out of an existing or self-developed ecologically sustainable material and without a pre-determined form. The design process called for a double-layered working method. On one hand, the students were to develop a bag experimentally, allowed to work completely free from formal constraints. On the other hand, the bags were required to be suitable for mass production. We would like to show you the results of the project in this brochure
