Enzymatic splitting of cellulose by
A. I Oparin(
Book
)
2 editions published in 1970 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
The book presents an analysis of the currently existing opinions of the properties and nature of enzymes which split cellulose, plus a discussion of possible mechanisms of their action. Methods are illustrated for selecting the active producers of cellulose and the principles lying at the basis of methods of determining the activity of individual components in the cellulose complex. Results are presented from a study of cultures of fungi which form cellulose. Methods are presented for separating a cellulose preparation and splitting it into its individual components. (Author)

Decomposition of Various Cellulose Substrates by Cellulase Preparations (Rasshcheplenie Razlichnykh Tsellyuloznykh Substratov
Treparatami Tsellyulazy)(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1971 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Cellulase preparations from various sources such as the fungi trichoderma viride, aspergillus sp. and the cochlea helix pomatia were compared in their ability to decompose cotton fiber, crystalline cellulose (hydrocellulose), amorphic cellulose, the Na-salt of carboxymethyl cellulose and cellobiose. The article describes methods for determination of the activity of cellulase when these substrates are used. The mechanism of enzymatic decomposition of cellulose is discussed. (Author)

Study of the cellulolytic enzymes of myrothecium verracaria(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
Celluloytic enzymes of a filtrate of culture fluid in a strain investigated proved to be heterogeneous. Curves of the distribution of cellulase and cellobiase activity after fractionation of a specified preparation do not coincide, which shows that splitting is apparently accomplished by different enzymes. The nature of the heterogeneity is not defined. (Author)

Effect of carbon sources on cellulase synthesis by some species of trichoderma(
Book
)
1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide
A study was made of the capacity of various mold fungi to synthesize cellulolytic enzymes during submerged cultivation in a medium with the carbon source being substances containing cellulose (surgarbeet pulp, cotton, filter paper) or lactose. Molds of the Trichoderma genus synthesized C1 and C2 enzymes on all the tested media. The strain T. viride-1 forms enzymes saccharifying cotton fiber by 40-60%; the strain T. viride-271 releases enzymes disaggregating cotton fiber but not saccharifying it. (Author)
