Includes miscellaneous papers relating to Rufus Porter Upton, who was a pioneer merchant and flour miller of St. Anthony and Minneapolis (Minn.), and his family. The papers include a letter Rufus Upton sent to his father of Dixmont (Me.), which discusses family, friends, and the purchasing of goods (August 11 1845). Two transcript copies of an address given by Rufus Upton (circa 1876) are also included, and provide reminiscences about arriving in the St. Anthony and Minneapolis areas and discusses the founding of a floral nursery and general store, and establishment of the Minnesota Mill in Saint Anthony (Minn.). A document titled the Upton Memorial is also included and provides geneological data on the Upton family and a biographical sketch for Rufus Upton (1942)
