Virtual screening methods are an important part during the development of new pharmaceutical compounds. They are used to screen huge libraries of compounds to identify those, who are interacting with the protein in a specific way. The methods differ in the way the conformers are generated and within the scoring functions. In a retrospective study on protein kinases we showed, that all tested methods performed on average comparable, to differentiate between known active and known inactive compounds. Also a combination of scoring function did not lead to significant better results. But for some kinase families they were remarkable differences in the quality of the results
