The first item on the programme is about borderline personality disorder, a term coined by psychologist Adolf Stern in 1938 which covers a wide range of disorders from psychosis to schizophrenia. A person with BPD is not able to change their personality to fit with the changes that come about in their lives and circumstances; their limited range of behaviours and attitudes cause stress to themselves and those around them.
