Les vacances de Monsieur Hulot by Jacques Tati( Visual )

3 editions published between 1951 and 2009 in French and Undetermined and held by 6 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Tati's comedies, especially Vacances and Playtime, are in the forefront of modernism in the cinema. In developing the Hulot character, Tati found inspiration in the silent comedies of Sennett, Chaplin and Keaton. In eschewing the close-up his point of departure was film narrative before Griffith. The Hulot character is not a conventional comic figure. He is not so much the focus of humour as the catalyst for revealing the sterile routinisation of modern living
