Passenger car diesels : PT-24 (selected papers through 1981)( Book )

2 editions published in 1982 in English and held by 99 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

PT-24 describes the fuel efficiency of diesel versus gasoline engines. Specific diesel engine designs are outlined in addition to techniques in controlling exhaust emissions. The indirect-injection diesel, presently used in all passenger car diesels, is compared with the direct-injection diesel which has shown great promise in the area of increased fuel economy
The Adiabatic engine : past, present & future developments : selected papers through 1984 by SAE Powerplant Activity (Organization)( Book )

3 editions published in 1984 in English and held by 94 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Burning a wide range of fuels in diesel engines( Book )

2 editions published in 1967 in English and held by 91 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Multifuel capabilities in diesel engines can reduce fuel costs while taking advantage of accessible fuel supplies. Of course, there are problems which accompany the use of different fuels in an engine brought about by the variations in the fuel characteristics, (e.g., viscosity, compressibility) and combustion, (e.g., fuel sprays, ignition delay). This collection of papers features 4 papers on combustion theory and 13 papers on solutions to multifuel engine problems. It is augmented by a summary paper by distinguished authors in the field and a bibliography of related papers not included in PT- 11
Gas turbines for autos and trucks : selected papers through 1980( Book )

2 editions published in 1981 in English and held by 88 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The gas turbine engine has long held a fascination for designers of passenger cars and trucks. It is light and compact with a high power- to-weight ratio, and has few moving parts; at full power it is very efficient. This powerplant also has had major shortcomings using existing technology, it is expensive to manufacture, has rather slow throttle response, and is not as efficient as other powerplants at idle and cruise. This book takes a detailed look at this remarkable powerplant and its development for use in cars and trucks. A wealth of material on previous research is included along with information on current developments and future goals
Vehicle emissions (selected SAE papers) Prepared under the auspices of the Vehicle Emissions Committee of the SAE Engineering Activity Board by Society of automotive engineers( Book )

2 editions published between 1967 and 1971 in Undetermined and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In formulating the contents of this volume, an effort was made to include those papers which were of such importance that they deserved a place in the permanent publications of the Society. A second criterion involved selection of papers so as to provide the reader with background material on collateral aspects of vehicle emissions such as atmospheric chemistry, special instrumentation, etc. Finally, in instances of two or more papers being similar in scope and results, full publication was limited to a representative paper. Because of this, many excellent papers were not included in the list
