The desert Fayum reinvestigated : the early to mid-Holocene landscape archaeology of the Fayum north shore, Egypt by Simon J Holdaway( )

4 editions published in 2017 in English and Undetermined and held by 166 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The Neolithic in Egypt is thought to have arrived via diffusion from an origin in southwest Asia. Here we suggest an alternative approach to understanding the development of food production in Egypt based on the results of new fieldwork in the Fayum, with the results of a detailed study of the Fayum archaeological landscape using an expanded version of low-level food production to organize observations concerning paleoenvironment, socioeconomy, settlement, and mobility. While domestic plants and animals were indeed introduced to the Fayum from elsewhere, when a number of aspects of the archaeological record are compared, a settlement system is suggested that has no obvious analogues with the Neolithic in southwest Asia. The results obtained from the Fayum are used to assess other contemporary sites in Egypt."--Publisher summary

The next section proposes strategies for teaching foundational digital humanities methods across a variety of scholarly disciplines, and the book concludes with wider debates about the place of digital humanities in the academy, from the field's cultural assumptions and social obligations to its political visions."--Back cover

La vannerie en Bretagne = sketry techniques in Brittany : nouvelle approche de l'ethnologie de la vannerie et contribution à l'étude des composantes culturelles : a new approach in basketry classification and a contribution to the delimitation of cultural components by Roger Hérisset( Book )

1 edition published in 2014 in French and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Digital Humanities Pedagogy : Practices, Principles and Politics by Olin Bjork( Book )

2 editions published in 2015 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Academic institutions are starting to recognize the growing public interest in digital humanities research, and there is an increasing demand from students for formal training in its methods. Despite the pressure on practitioners to develop innovative courses, scholarship in this area has tended to focus on research methods, theories and results rather than critical pedagogy and the actual practice of teaching. The essays in this collection offer a timely intervention in digital humanities scholarship, bringing together established and emerging scholars from a variety of humanities disciplines across the world. The first section offers views on the practical realities of teaching digital humanities at undergraduate and graduate levels, presenting case studies and snapshots of the authors' experiences alongside models for future courses and reflections on pedagogical successes and failures. The next section proposes strategies for teaching foundational digital humanities methods across a variety of scholarly disciplines, and the book concludes with wider debates about the place of digital humanities in the academy, from the field's cultural assumptions and social obligations to its political visions. Digital Humanities pedagogy broadens the ways in which both scholars and practitioners can think about this emerging discipline, ensuring its ongoing development, vitality and long-term sustainability
