Letters from Nuremberg : my father's narrative of a quest for justice by Thomas J Dodd( Book )

8 editions published between 2007 and 2008 in English and held by 996 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Nuremberg trials demonstrated the resolve of the Allied victors of the Second World War to uphold the principles of dispassionate justice and the rule of law even when cries of vengeance threatened to carry the day. Thomas J. Dodd served as a staff lawyer in this unprecedented trial for crimes against humanity. Thanks to his agile legal mind and especially to his skills at interrogating the defendants, he quickly rose to become the number two prosecutor in the U.S. contingent. Over the course of 15 months, Dodd described his efforts and his vivid impressions of the proceedings in nightly letters to his wife, Grace. Unexamined for decades, these letters now remind us of the inspiration that good people across the world have long taken from that courtroom--and that fear and retribution are not the only bases for confrontation.--From publisher description

The trilateral bond : mapping a new era for Latin America, the United States, and Europe by Gabriel Sánchez Zinny( )

1 edition published in 2013 in English and held by 99 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This report should be food for thought for policymakers in the United States, Europe, and Latin America seeking a new vision for a transatlantic partnership. Without a doubt, these three geographic regions share common interests, concerns, and aspirations. Given increased instability in other regions around the globe, the Task Force concluded that the time has come to build upon these similarities in order to forge a vibrant trilateral partnership that embraces Latin America as an equal partner. It is only through such an enhanced trilateral relationship that the inherent potential of the greater transatlantic community can be realized and global instability elsewhere mitigated. The report that follows provides a blueprint for policymakers to follow in tackling this promising, albeit complex, endeavor. Task Force members rightfully focused on the key pillars of a trilateral partnership that will be enduring and yet nimble enough to respond to changing global dynamics. These pillars include the development of a competitive trilateral transatlantic marketplace with minimal market distortions, human capital developed to its full potential, collaboration in the development and use of natural resources, enhanced cooperation and intelligence-sharing related to transnational crime and citizen security, and the development of the institutional infrastructure necessary to sustain the continuity of the trilateral partnership
