Shirin Neshat : la última palabra = the last word by Shirin Neshat( Book )

14 editions published in 2005 in Spanish and English and held by 290 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"In a relatively short span of seven years, since 1998, Shirin Neshat has created an impressive and complex body of work: ten films/video installations of great historic and artistic significance, including Rapture, which has been hailed as an example of a "masterpiece" of contemporary art by philosopher and critic Arthur Danto. This books surveys each one of these audio/video installations while reflecting on the cultural context of her challenging and controversial artistic practice. If the exhibition produced by the Museo de Arte Contemporaneo de Castilla y Leon (MUSAC) offers an opportunity to consider the scope and achievements of this practice, this book helps us explore the contextual framework in which Shirin Neshat's work is articulated and debated, and the vision of this artist who has transcended the artistic discourse to become a cultural phenomenon."--Jacket

Sanaa's architecture embraces complexities within simple appearances. It has many elements that are impossible to understand unless actually "experienced".

Candice Breitz : exposición múltiple = multiple exposure by Candice Breitz( Book )

5 editions published in 2007 in Spanish and English and held by 102 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Akram Zaatari : el molesto asunto = Akram Zaatari : the uneasy subject by Akram Zaʻatarī( Book )

4 editions published in 2011 in Spanish and held by 92 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book is the first comprehensive publication dedicated to the universe of Lebanese artist Akram Zaatari, whose work addresses the subject of desire and the depiction of the human body in photography and popular culture. Zaatari uses the world around him as the ultimate archive; his "excavations" unearth hidden objects, documents and stories that he uses to study a multitude of situations related to image making and modern times. Influenced in childhood by popular Egyptian cinema, and later by Bresson, Fassbinder, Pasolini and the documentary practice of Lebanese filmmaker Mohammed Soueid, Zaatrari's work gives special attention to the capturing of fleeting desire in daily attitudes among men, and to the study of sex practices in the Arab culture that is Lebanon. This survey of Zaatari's work offers an occasion to see a documentary practice that is imbued with the poetry of daily life.--Back cover

Alexander Apóstol : modernidad tropical by Alexander Apóstol( Book )

3 editions published in 2010 in Spanish and held by 72 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

From the nineteen-twenties on, Latin America became a suitable terrain in which to apply the ideal embodied by the Modern Movement. This period is approached in the works of the Venezuelan artist Alexander Apostol by exploring the remnants of that ideal of modernity from a critical standpoint. Through the texts by the architect Juan Herreros and the art critics and curators Julieta Gonzalez and Cuauhtemoc Medina, various aspects of his oeuvre are analyzed alongside the context in which it arose. Whether from the perspective of architecture, art history or a political analysis of contemporary Venezuela, each author contributes to a comprehensive study of Alexander Apostol's production
Fin by Marina Núñez( Book )

8 editions published in 2008 in Spanish and English and held by 68 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

"The book's title references the idea that the human body is seen today as an organism reconstructed via mechanical or electronic devices, transplants, xenotransplants, compounded by all sorts of chemical substances or even budding genetic therapies, which make it increasingly difficult to uphold an image of bodily integrity. Marina Nunez thus underlines how the image of a body - collage is imposed: hybrid, unstable, metaphorical, artificially viable, where boundaries (with the world, with other beings) cease to be unbreachable to become porous and fuzzy."--BOOK JACKET
Then and now : Carolee Schneemann : œuvres d'histoire by Carolee Schneemann( Book )

3 editions published in 2013 in French and held by 65 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

6 editions published in 2006 in Spanish and held by 65 WorldCat member libraries worldwide
