Mono-chromo-horo-skop/Synopsism by Jagoda Bednarsky( Book )

1 edition published in 2016 in German and held by 19 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The painterly universe of Jagoda Bednarsky (b. Złotoryja, Poland, 1988; lives and works in Frankfurt am Main) revolves around questions of layering and planes of localization: What is in the picture? What is behind it? What is in front of it? Technical reproductions of graphic art or photographs from magazines, photo books, and the Internet serve as the thematic and formal basis for the artist's creative process. By collaging and overpainting found and invented imagery, she creates seemingly haphazard and mystical syntheses of ambivalent realities. Additional techniques of visual generation Bednarsky employs include mirroring, serial iteration, doubling, crossing out, and web-like interconnection; as we seek to grasp the nexus of information and knowledge implicit in them, we are spellbound by the enigmatic aura they exude. Jagoda Bednarsky's first monograph includes numerous illustrations as well as a text by Eric-John Russell, a lyrical essay by Jenny Kalliokulju, and discussions of the artist's work by the art historians Meike Behm and Elke Gruhn
Sophia Pompéry, Atölye [anlässlich der Ausstellung Sophia Pompéry, "Atölye", 24. Februar bis 21. April 2013, Nassauischer Kunstverein Wiesbaden] by Sophia Pompéry( Book )

3 editions published in 2013 in German and held by 18 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

In her works, which include video, photography, object art and installations, Sophia Pompéry takes diffuse atmospheres and situations and plays with encoded motifs, leading to unexpected results when we look closer. Taking physical laws into consideration, she shows unusual perspectives of the everyday and sets poetic processes in motion. This book, which is published to accompany her first solo exhibition in an art institution in Germany, includes complete documentation of the exhibition and its design is based on a concept by the artist that investigates the limits of the artist's book as well as the character of her works. Tiré du site Internet de Revolver: "Excerpt from text "Wachwechsel" 2003:"In the last 10 years hundreds of maritime hijackings have come to light. Apart from several oil tankers and older cargo ships, most of the hijacked vessels have been modern container ships of the senator class with satelite navigation and autopilot. The crew would be attacked by night and overwhelmed before being thrown overboard."
