"Digital technologies influence architecture, art and design. These new technologies are generally used for preliminary design work and presentations, which hardly tap their experimental potential. Advanced 3D and animation software was originally developed for PC games and the film industry and offers strong algorithms. These algorithms make it possible to simulate reality as we know it, but the challenge lies in creating new realities with them. The new volume in the RIEA Concepts Series introduces the "UrbanLobby" project by MRGD, the young London architecture office started by Melike Altinisik, Samer Chamoun and Daniel Widrig. The office recently won the SwissArtsAward 2007 for its work and their projects have been shown in a number of AA Gallery exhibitions."--Publisher
Sequences : saw only the moon by Lars Kordetzky( Book )

2 editions published in 2001 in English and held by 116 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Subject of the book is an architectural encounter with the psyche, the starting point being an intervention in a solitary confinement cell of a psychiatric clinic in 1997. Crumbling edges, shifting perceptions, a world of confinement and liberated space, a network of thoughts and illusions, "Sequences" describes the development of architectonic structures in an in-between world of unstable equilibrium. Architecture, art, psychiatry, psychology and philosophy are all linked by perception. By means of pictures, drawings and (thought) models, the different layers are exposed. The book has no beginning and no end, it offers an insight into various sequences involved in the design process

Highwaying by Lukas Ingold( Book )

1 edition published in 2010 in English and held by 4 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

When cars emerged in the last century, people began connecting their cities through roadways. In the course of time, a narrow grid of roads originated. But what permits great mobility is, in the urban context, a barrier to urban relations and movement flows beyond the use of cars. The urban potential lying in these residual spaces is explored by the experimental design studio of professor Lafranchi at Burgdorf University for Applied Sciences, Switzerland. Documented in this book, the project of a research center and a world of experience "Fascination of automobile and traffic" by Lukas Ingold and Fabio Tammaro is based, in its constructive design, on concepts of automotive engineering as well as the parameters of the loop-shaped dynamics of a highway hub with its streets, ramps, bridges, and residual surfaces
Space out by Sotirios Kotoulas( Book )

1 edition published in 2005 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The experimental and partly realized work of Sotirius Kotoulas, an architect living in New York City, has often attracted attention in the USA, being written about and awarded prizes. He is, however, less well known in Eurpoe. He is presently working on a design for a house in Seriphos, Greece. Lebbeus Woods on Kotoulas' work: "... This is not an inhabitable site-specific architecture but one that is translatable, a numerical transference outside the material realm of building as an architecture about architecture."
