Establishment of Norms for Dry Ice Disbursement in Seeding Intramass Stratus Clouds and Fog (O Normirovanii Raskhoda Tverdoi Uglekisloty pri Vozdeistvii na Vnutrimassovye Sloistye Oblaka i Tumany)( Book )

1 edition published in 1970 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The reports test results on the effect of dry ice for dispersal of supercooled stratus and stratocumulus clouds. Existing ideas on the dependence of the norms for disbursement of CO2 on cloud capacity were made more precise by experimental data. The effect of dry ice at temperatures higher than -4 degrees, high wind velocity and seeding at various levels above upper cloud boundaries is discussed. (Author)
Parachute by N. A Lobanov( Book )

3 editions published in 1969 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A parachute is described which consists of a canopy with a polar opening; central shroud lines with an elastic link, a braking parachute attached by the elastic link by means of a connecting pull-line. To retard the filling and opening of the canopy of the basic parachute the lower edge of the canopy of the basic parachute is equipped with a draw-in lacing, which breaks upon the pulling out of the connecting pull-line, this line being attached to the shroud of the pull-out parachute by means of an intermediary link which breaks in the air after full stretch-out of the elastic link of the central shroud lines. A hydraulic transmission is strengthened and reduced in size, the last stage of the control apparatus in the starting hydroconverter is supported by a shaft running through the hollow turbine shaft of the reverse reducing gear. (Author)
Critical analysis of air temperature data using the electronic computer ural-4( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The paper claims that an analysis of air temperature data depends a great deal on the arrangement of the observation stations, especially the so-called effective stations. The data provided by the peripheral or regional stations do not enhance the accuracy of the analysis. Interpolation discrepancies can be reduced by an optimal selection of effective stations. An optimal interpolation reveals no marked advantage over a linear interpolation, and a critical analysis of average monthly temperature data with the use of computer is said to be feasible. (Author)
Decoding aerial photographs of glacial landscapes - indicators of ground waters by G. Ya Meyer( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Characteristics of landscape indicators of ground waters are described for the following: four glacial types of landscape, including hilly-moraine, drumlin, morainic plain and terminal-moraine; three water-glacial types of landscape, including kame (and os), lake-glacial plain and outwash plain; the karst erosion type of landscape; and seashores. The decoding of these types of terrain on aerial photographs is discussed. (Author)
Imparting light and decomposition resistance to cellulose materials( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

A two-stage treatment of cellulose was developed which imparts persistent resistance to sunlight and the action of soil microorganisms. The process involves formation of rhodanine-copper-cellulose compounds by interaction of rhodanine with a copper-cellulose complex. Data presented indicate the increased stability of the treated fabrics in comparison to untreated and copper cellulose forms. (Author)
Optimal parameters of an artificial delay line( Book )

2 editions published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The possibility of developing an artificial delay line, based on low-frequency filtering, is investigated. These lines are used in certain video tape recorders in order to correct quadrature errors. Basic factors which influence the choice of line parameters are examined and a technique is proposed for optimum line design which provides for high-quality video-recording correction. (Author)
Vertical landing and takeoff aircraft by V. F Pavlenko( Book )

2 editions published in 1969 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The book is devoted to new types of flying craft -- vertical takeoff and landing aircraft (VTOL). These aircraft make it possible to obviate the need for awkward and vulnerable airfields and can carry out rapid and sweeping flight maneuvers. They also mean that hauling of passengers and cargo in local airlines can be done with greater efficiency and more economically. (Author)
Operation of Construction Machinery Under Winter Conditions( Book )

1 edition published in 1970 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This book sets forth special features of operation of construction machinery (chiefly excavators, bulldozers and tractors) under winter conditions. It examines difficulties arising during the operation and caused by the effect of freezing temperatures on the lubricants, fuels, brake and operating fluids of the hydraulic-control systems and also on the steels and other materials. It analyzes in detail the causes which make the starting of the carburetor-type and diesel engines difficult at low temperatures. It also examines the methods of making the starting easier. In addition to this, the book gives information on the preparation of construction machinery and on the organization of work under winter conditions, the data on the economic effect obtained with proper organization of the maintenance and use of the means for making the operation of construction machinery easier. AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY IN 1966-1970( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

Truck and bus transportation is not meeting the requirements of the domestic economy. The 23rd Party Congress has decreed that freight hauling by truck transport will increase 1.7 times during the five years of the present plans (1966-1970). Vehicle production also fails to correspond to the configuration of freight haulage: in the future there will be more light trucks and heavy duty trucks but fewer medium trucks. In addition, the proportion of tractor-trailer combination is to increase. The latest truck designs are discussed and the basic characteristics are given for a number of new trucks (engine, horsepower, body style). The location of plants and a description of what is produced at each is given, as well as sights named for new plants. (Author)

Such rear organizations as the food service, transport command, quartermaster corps and medical service are described
Comparative assessment of the efficacy of nutrient media for cultivation of leptospira( Book )

1 edition published in 1969 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The liquid nutrient media of Ulengut, Terskiy, Fervoort-Wolfe, and Korthof were bound to be most effective for growth of leptospira. Addition of glycerin and vitamins of the B group had a stimulating effect on growth. Metabolic processes proceeded more intensively in leptospira of the icterohaemorrhagiae type, than in the pomona or grippotyphosa types. Addition of stimulators to Terskiy medium facilitated intensive consumption of aspargic, glutamic, arginine, serine, methionine, and cystine by the microorganisms. (Author)

The question of calculating thermal compensation in oscillatory circuits and stabilization of the oscillation period of the balance wheel in a new type escapement regulator with restricted movement( Book )

1 edition published in 1966 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

A method is presented for selecting the values of capacitors to be used in the temperature-compensating circuits of temperature-stable oscillators. Parallel and series connected compensators are considered. Temperature compensation by variable capacitor is briefly discussed. A new type of escapement regulator, with restricted movement is described, and its dynamic characteristics are presented. In the new type escapement, the geared wheel moves one notch when the balance wheel, with one slot, moves in one direction, remaining stationary when the balance wheel returns. The simplified design makes the period less dependent on the force applied to the movement wheel. (Author)
