Squibs wins the Calcutta Sweep( Visual )

1 edition published in 1922 in Undetermined and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

A working class comedy-drama in which Squibs, a Piccadilly flower seller, wins the sweepstakes enabling her to bring joy to the slums, sample high life and act the great lady. There is a parallel drama involving Squibs' sister and her burglar-husband. This was the second of four Squibs pictures that made Betty Balfour a star. Her discoverer and director George Pearson structures the film skilfully around contrasts through cross-cutting constructing a world of joy and tears
