Navigating through geometry in grades 9-12( Book )

1 edition published in 2001 in English and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Approaching geometry through a transformational lens, this book concentrates on topics such as the use of transformations, coordinates and matrices, and congruence and similarity. Activities that take students through geometric tasks require some use of technology, including interactive geometry software and a calculator or a computer with software that produces geometric images and graphs. The supplemental CD-ROM features interactive electronic activities, master copies of activity pages for students, and additional readings for teachers. --Publisher

Infrared image processing and analysis by Andrzej Brodzik( Book )

2 editions published in 1998 in English and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

We present a new algorithm for image restoration with application to image spectrometry, combining two radically different techniques: the singular value decomposition (SVD) and the method of projections onto convex sets (POCS). The SVD technique is used to obtain an initial estimate of the unknown image and to establish correspondence between the missing data and the spectral description of the image. The iterative method of convex projections is then applied to the estimate, regaining the missing data by enforcing a sequence of constraints on the reconstructed object. We report results of investigations in the recovered image. We describe an infrared stereo imaging method for the three dimensional target tracking of distant moving point sources. In scenes which are typically lacking in significant features, correspondence between the two camera images is simplified by the application of a triple temporal filter to consecutive frames of data. This filter simultaneously accentuates the target and suppresses background clutter. We apply this stereo tracking technique to experimental range measurements in which the target is tracked with sub-pixel precision

Bimetallic Tubulars Via Spray Forming( )

1 edition published in 1991 in English and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

High deposition rate spray forming is a new technology which has been developed to reduce the costs and to improve the performance of a wide variety of engineering alloys. The purpose of this investigation was to demonstrate the ability to produce layered bimetallic structures via the spray forming process. Copper tubulars were used as collectors for spray deposited alloy 625. The collectors were varied in thickness and various interfacial alloys were incorporated to promote bonding between the copper and superalloy. Microstructures and bond strength were determined. In the spray deposition process, a stream of molten metal is atomized by inert gas, producing a spray of liquid droplets which are cooled by the gas and accelerated towards a substrate, where they consolidate to form a nearly fully dense deposit. The process improves on ingot metallurgy in that a rapidly solidified, grain-refined microstructure with limited segregation is produced
