1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 9 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The purpose of this thesis is to question the perceptions and the dominant theoretical representations of Islam in Europe. The temporal frame in which Islam invests is the modern period, since the end of the Arabic influence in Spain and the beginning of the territorial presence of Turkish in Europe until our period punctuated with laic demands. It tries especially to understand the various curves marking the evolution of influence and representation of Islam by showing solidarity with the theological and political stakes which are characterized in socio-historic, philosophic and in anthropological analyses. The orientation of the research has consisted in the emphasis of the theological and political quarrels which cross Europe and to estimate the Turkish influence in the European geopolitics from the XVIth century. From a theological point of view, the studies reveal that the Islamic subject is omnipresent in the oppositions between humanists and reformists, but also between these and the Catholics. The Christian apologetic vision develops this way as well in theology as a philosophy that introduces into religious analysis the question of natural rights and consequently that of the natural religion. Our investigations allowed discovering a set of judgments by putting in perspective Islamic philosophy of the Lights and in German philosophy as well. So, the link of Islamic faith and philosophy with the modern does not save questions of secularism normore globally does it spare secularization. If the political concerns in the Islamic environment show a different practice, the promotion of the individual and the reason are highlighted everywhere. The current context of the globalization arouses many questions. The basic questions are how to live together in a pluralistic society without the alienation of persons of different cultures and creeds. It crystallizes the reflection towards the reviviscence of ethics and responsibility by inviting the individual to move away of his or her reference universe or comfort zone into a constructive dialogue with others

3 editions published between 2011 and 2012 in French and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The Cumanagoto are an indigenous people of the northeast coast of Venezuela. According to their oral history the people of those territories originally Karib have lived there for 30. 000 years. They lived under the Spanish colonization from 1594 to 1811. The indepence was declared On July5th 1810 but was real in 1822 with the battle of Carabobo Since 1882 the people no longer spoke about the Cumanagotos . My mother who belonged to the indigenous people Cumanagoto spent her life looking for her people but she n ever found them Before her death she asked me to continue the search about the Cumanagoto our people. This is what I have done since then and it's a coincidence that during the year 1998 , I found my people 's governor. At present according to the representatives and the Cumanagoto's delegates there would be more than 12 Cumanagoto " pure blood" the State of Anzoátegui in Venezuela. The fieldwork revealed that the physical mixing of these populations is obvious. From the beginning I decided not to take pictures of these families, places, houses, roads, forests only when there was nobody. Eight years later, after my integration to these communities, many people came and asked me to take pictures and talk about them in my doctoral thesis, with the hope that the president would see them and see their bad living conditions. According to some Cumanagoto delegates, there would be more than one million people with Cumanagoto roots in Venezuela This figure has not been proved because the censuses done in the last century did not consider the ethnic Cumanagoto origin neither in their territory nor in the rest of the country, the Cumanagoto people were considered as Venezuelan peasants. Since the dawn of time Cumangoto celebrated matrimonial alliances with neighboring people

2 editions published in 2014 in French and held by 3 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This thesis examines the way Iranian poets of XXth century welcomed French literature and the role it played, first in the modernisation process of Persian poetry and secondly, in the emergence of a new poetics. In this regard, this thesis seeks to analyse and to understand the relationships that Iranian authors developed with French literary works and how its western influence pervaded their own productions. This research relates the story of a literature in search of renewal, which finally leads, through the poet Nima, to the rise of a New Poetry (Še'r-e now). This thesis offers a lecture of this poetry, in the light of the French works that influenced it, and gives keys to comprehend Nimaian poetics and its concepts

2 editions published between 2010 and 2020 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published between 2011 and 2012 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Since the time of the Islamic Revolution, in 1979, it has been impossible to overlook the multiplicity and the strength of Iranian art, its sources, supports and materials, as well as the new areas it offers to creation and events. The keen interest for new technologies, already palpable under the Qajjar dynasty, has never ceased to expand into a variety of fields. Photography, cinema, printing, papers, and later broadcasting and television, first imported from the West, have been turned into new resources for the development of Iranian art. Thanks to the Internet, the art of Iran can now blossom without limits and enjoy worldwide recognition. Subsequently, it has been able to break free from original Western influences, enter the global playground and win full recognition in terms of both marketing approach and authenticity

2 editions published between 2011 and 2013 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published in 2013 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

2 editions published in 2011 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

Can we grasp, understand and describe the experience of museum visitors? This study focuses on the visitor experience from an enactive perspective, i.e., that which makes sense from the point of view of visitors during their visit. The main results concern the method of investigation, which is innovative in the field of museum studies and provides a new perspective on the experience of visitors in museums. The thesis shows that an analysis of the visitor's “course of experience” carried out by means of a subjective re situ interview allows us to describe and understand the basic units of the visitors' experiences as well as the overall experience of the visit with precision, finesse, and depth. The actions and cognitive paths of visitors, which contribute to the construction of the knowledge, are also highlighted and we offer standard courses of experience during museum visits, which repeatedly contribute to the construction of knowledge

2 editions published in 2013 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

This study focuses on the Great Northern War (1700-1721) and on the destiny of Swedes in Belarus and Russia. The Swedish, Belarusian and Russian historiography use different ways to depict this war. We compare these various approaches in the first part of this thesis. Then, we study the different aspects of the Carolin's life: in Belarus they were present during the war and some of them stayed there. In Russia the question is about prisoners of war captured after the Battle of Poltava (1709), who brought a big contribution in the development of Russia, such as in Sankt-Petersburg and in Siberia. In Russia some Carolins took root too : we study the question of their descendants in Russia and Belarus, but also the question of the memory of Great Northern War until our days

2 editions published in 2011 in French and held by 2 WorldCat member libraries worldwide

The topic of this thesis is a study of discursive techniques developed in his essays by the Japanese novelist Ôe Kenzaburo, Nobel Prize in Literature in 1994, and the correspondence between the portrayal of the central theme of violence in these essays and its appearances in the fictions of the author, as seen through the historical and political context in which these discourses take place. The thesis proposes, through these essays, to follow the personal path of the author and his intellectual growth, marked by the ambivalence between a democratic hope created by the new educative system of post-war Japan, and a desire of self-affirmation in violence and death inherited from the pre-war one. It then goes through a thematic study of the fiction works of Ôe while focusing on the representation, through the characters of the novels, of the personal obsessions of the author as shown through the studies of his essays: fascination of violence, desire of self-sacrifice, apocalyptical feeling, and nostalgia of war. Through a thorough analysis of these themes and of their evolution through the works of fiction of Ôe, the thesis shows the pregnancy of the desire of sacrifice and of a meditation based on a binary dynamic opposition, involving violence, active or passive, as a privileged way of self-accomplishment. By confronting the discourse of the author in his essays and his works of fiction against its criticism and the work of the historians focused on the postwar period, the thesis allows a reading of the fiction work of Ôe Kenzaburô through History and its influence on his personal history

1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The aim of this study, conducted in partnership with the Department of Surgical Oncology, Centre Paul Strauss in Strasbourg, is to assess the consequences of thyroid surgery on the voice of patients, in order to identify the various perturbations caused by this surgery, and also to reveal possible compensatory strategies or readjustments that the patient may develop, alone or with speech therapy; this is a longitudinal study. The assessment was based on the analysis of acoustic signals, from which a large amount of cues related to voice quality, but also to articulatory behaviour of speakers was extracted. Production of sustained vowels allowed carrying out two spectral studies. The spatiotemporal study was made possible through the analysis of nonsense words, and more specifically through VCV sequences. We conducted three experiments on the acoustic level. The first experiment deals with the spectral characteristics of the voice of patients who underwent thyroidectomy, with no laryngeal paralysis. The second study was conducted based on spectral characteristics of the voice of speakers with laryngeal post-thyroidectomy paralysis. Our final experiment was to study spatio-temporal characteristics of the voice of speakers who underwent thyroidectomy, with laryngeal paralysis. Articulatory interpretations, made from the acoustic data, reveal perturbations of gestures on both the glottal and supraglottal levels, with readjustment strategies varying according to patients. The concept of a "target" as a control space for execution of possible articulatory and acoustic entities, which are perceptually acceptable, seems particularly relevant in this study, since disordered speakers reorganize their productions according to their own physiological and anatomical constraints, caused by the disorder
Levinas : une éthique asymétrique de l'autre horizontal by Young Geol Kim( )

1 edition published in 2019 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

1 edition published in 2020 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

In this research, we examine the notion of Metaphysical Man (al-insān al-kāmil) as formulated through the work of the Sufi and philosopher Abd al-Karīm al-Ğīlī (m. 811/1405). It appeared to us that the latter, in everything that he offers as a richness to the Sufi thought, has not benefited from an interest, in terms of academic works in French language, commensurate with his importance. Secondly, the rare university studies dedicated to the "accomplished Man" only mention him in a secondary way, relegating him to the rank of a simple disciple of Ibn Arabi or a popularizer of his philosophy. This seems reductive and simplistic in many ways. Starting from an analysis articulating the whole of his work (about thirty works), and adopting a contrastive approach with the theses of his predecessors, our objective is to demonstrate that, even if the teachings of the precursors in the matter found an echo in him, al-Ğīlī nevertheless remains the one by whom the notion was systematized, theorized and brought to the maturity we know today. His approach is more articulate and his dialectic more formal. He thus presents the metaphysical Man as the synthesizing microcosm of existence, the meaning of the cosmos (ma'nā al-kawn wa rūḥuhū) and the isthmus (al-barzaḫ) which unifies the boundaries between creator (al-ḥaqq) and creature (al-ḫalq). The demonstration of its status within the existing ones as well as the function of archetypal being that it occupies is based on three explanatory notions : the unity of existence (waḥdat al-wuğūd), the epiphany (al-tağallī) and the Muhammadian reality (al-ḥaqīqa al-muḥammadiyya). This triptych thus constitutes the framework of this thesis. en anglais
Itinéraires humains dans l'espace urbain à partir de quatre auteurs de romans policiers : Alicia Giménez Bartlett, Antonio Lozano, Juan Madrid, Andreu Martin by Marie-Thérèse Vida( )

1 edition published in 2013 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The Spanish crime novel that has been written over the last three decades can be essentially defined as an urban social novel. The movements of the detectives reveal the cartography of a Spanish urban space which is in mutation, reflecting the transformations undergone by Spanish society. Based on the work of four authors, Juan Madrid, Andreu Martín, Alicia Giménez Bartlett and Antonio Lozano, this thesis proposes various possible ways of interpreting that urban space, thus enabling a better understanding of the evolution of Spanish society. First of all, we encounter a space of proximity comprising a combination of places - as defined by Marc Augé ; then a space across which visible and invisible frontiers run, hindering mobility for a part of the population ; finally a space in which mobility is widespread, so emphasizing the inequality between those who have access to it and those who are condemned to staying put. This thesis thus proposes a literary and sociological approach to the contemporary Spanish crime novel

1 edition published in 2020 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

1 edition published in 2016 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This PhD work intends to investigate, through scriptural materials written by monk Akyûbô Sokuden, global intentions of Shugendô upholders during medieval Japan and Sokuden's attempts to define or to redefine this spiritual way. It also has for purpose to rebuild Shugendôas an object of its time following Sokuden's development process, by observing religious and political influences from XIVth to XVIth centuries. Moreover, we intend to put emphazis on the actualization and distribution of Shugendô's identity by introducing the first occidental translation of a major Shugendô doctrinal essay written in kanbun, Akyûbô Sokuden's Shugenshûyô hiketsu shû. Shugendô can be distinguished by the use of miraculous power and prophylactic magic obtained through the intimate acquaintance of mystical figures. Favorable towards lineal initiation and oral transmission from a generation to another rather than dogmatic studies, Shugendô practionners were aiming, based on the Mahāyāna moral system, to solve individuals and society suffering through the effectiveness of a magical power

1 edition published in 2015 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

The purpose of the thesis is to outline the western route of Aelius Aristides, Greek orator lived in II century AD, through an overview of the Latin translations of some of his speeches produced between the fifteenth and the first half of the sixteenth century by humanists from Italy and Northern Europe. We aim to show that Aristides' reception in Western Europe during Humanism has always been related to clear literary interests, but also to socio-cultural and historical reasons. For this purpose, we analyze the Latin translations of four Aristides' speeches : the Dionysos (or. 41), translated by Cencio de' Rustici in 1416 ; the Monody for Smyrna (or. 18), by Niccolò Perotti (1471) ; the speech To the Rhodians, on concord (or. 24), by Carlo Valgulio (1497) ; the Embassy speech to Achille (or. 16), by Joachim Camerarius (1535). We give a critical edition of the first two translations (Dionysos and Monody) based on the Latin manuscripts and a modern publication of the last two (To the Rhodians and Embassy) ; we also propose the identification of the Greek model or, at least, we offer an identikit of the original Greek text read by the humanist for his translation

1 edition published in 2012 in French and held by 1 WorldCat member library worldwide

This doctoral research analyzes the statute of the reality notion within Ilse Aichinger's literature. It focuses on her theoretical cogitation about the connection between literature and reality and on the different textual aspects of her writing about reality. We also tried to set Aichinger's production back in the context of literature after 1945, in which cogitation about transmission of reality and about the cognitive function of writers plays a great part. The approach of the first part is the importance of fiction through the concepts of fictivity and fictionality. This analysis is completed by a cogitation about fiction in the context of literature production and reception. Knowledge is the second approach of this research about reality. In this part, we first characterize the status of knowledge in Aichinger's literature and secondly describe some particular examples which are characteristic for Aichinger's writing, as subjective knowledge or intuition. We finally analyze two different ways of writing about reality in literature. The study on the artificiality of the literature text leads to a reflection about the meaning of authenticity and imagination by this author. We conclude this research by analyzing the changing of narrative structures in Ilse Aichinger's literature
